What is the Folicule black pigment made of?

The Folicule pigment is comprised of water, isopropyl alcohol, black carbon, and our proprietary resin. For full product information please see the full MSDS here: https://bit.ly/3nekgg3

How do I use the Folicule black ink?

Our Folicule ink is best used by being diluted with distilled water to create appropriate color shades for your client.  Please read our dilution chart for more information on how to properly dilute this ink. This ink is for professional scalp micropigmentation use only.

Is the ink just for scalp micropigmentation?

This ink is formulated and specifically intended for micropigmentation of the scalp.  Our dilution method and application is applicable to only scalp micropigmentation.

How long does the black pigment last?

The average shelf life of our Folicule pigment is 2-3 years. Please refer to the expiration date on the back of every bottle to ensure it is still useable.

How do I mix the black ink?

Please check out our tutorial video HERE for the proper way to mix the Folicule ink.

How many SMP sessions can I get out of one Folicule bottle?

Typically, you can get 20-30 sessions of the 15 ml bottle if you are using the half dilution scale.

How can you get more sessions out of one Folicule bottle?

In order to help reduce wasted pigment and expand the duration each Folicule bottle lasts, we recommend halving your measurement amounts. This simply means to halve both the distilled water measurement AND the pigment measurement to get the accurate dilution.

For example: a color 14 could be measured as 14ml of water AND 1ml of pigment OR 7ml of water AND .5ml of pigment.  They will both be the same color, just less liquid when halved.

IMPORTANT: if halving your measurements it is critical to halve both sides of the ratio or else the dilution will be wrong and could result in much stronger or lighter pigment than desired.

What do I need to mix and dilute the Folicule ink?

All you need is Folicule ink, distilled water, and proper measurement tools.

What scalp micropigmentation ink do I use for long hair fill-ins / density ?

You can use either the Folicule SMP Black and Deep Brown ink depending on the clients hair color, skin color, and desired treatment outcome.

Do I need to use an orange modifier for Folicule Black pigment?

It is not necessary to add brown or orange modifier to our Black Folicule Pigment.  If you are working with a client that has lighter features (i.e blonde or ginger hair) and light skin complexion (i.e Fitzpatrick 1 or 2) we suggest using our Folicule Deep Brown pigment which is already modified with and has a warmer tint.  No extra modification or orange additives are needed in our Brown pigment.
